Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the General Legal Division (GLD) of the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), in the Accountability and Judicial Support Cluster. The incumbent typically reports to the Principal Legal Officer and/or Director of GLD.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in international law. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in international law, including legal analysis, research and writing, most of which should be in the field of public international law, is required. Experience in dealing with issues related to white collar crimes, such as fraud and corruption is required. Experience as a legal officer in a field mission of the United Nations, or other international organization, is desirable. Experience working with the status and the privileges and immunities of international organizations, is desirable.
